Paper Pumpkin Pop Up Blog Hop!

28701642_10216314905810036_5229522907894174650_o
Hello!
Welcome to the Paper Pumpkin Pop-Up Blog Hop! We are all fans of this monthly crafting kit and want to share with you our enthusiasm for this box of creative fun! This is my first time hopping with this group, however, I am sure it won’t be the last since I am a huge Paper Pumpkin fan!
The beauty of the Paper Pumpkin kit is that you can follow the directions provided in the kit to make the projects as they were designed, or use the supplies as a starting point and let your own creativity run wild.
On this hop, we will be sharing many alternate ideas with you on how to use the September kit called ‘Frights and Delights.’
I like to start out making at least 1 of each of the planned projects in a kit first. I just haven’t bought any candy yet, so I thought I would use one of Paper Pumpkin’s images. They look better with candy in them than empty. Aren’t they cute little packages?? I’ll be using them for secretaries and teachers at the schools I sub at and where my son goes.
Then, I see where my own creative juices flow…here is what happened this month…
1538596184912
I have made up my mind to do more scrapbooking and have therefore challenged myself to make at least 1 scrapbook page with the kit contents each month. For this, I need to add a 12 x 12 piece of card stock, which is in Rich Razzleberry today. Normally, I would use the included cards to back the photos, yet since this kit did not have cards, I did have to grab some other card stock as well. In this case, some Pumpkin Pie, Mango Melody, and Cajun Craze. Ideally, I would like to use as much from the kit as I can to show you that you can do it too. Also, this month, to have a change of pace for non Halloween folks, I added in a fall stamp set called Colorful Seasons stamp set and Seasonal Layers thinlits.
I used 2 of the cellophane bags and cut them on one side. Then I did a fan fold and adhered the sides together after tying them in the middle with the bakers twine from the kit. I made the bakers twine long enough so that I could tie it in a bow around the stems of the leaves.

The leaves are stamped in Rich Razzleberry, Cajun Craze, and Crushed Curry. The leaf overlay is cut from Mango Melody. I used glue dots on the back of the leaves to stick them to the cellophane fan circle.
For the title, I embossed one of the flower thinlits onto the silver paper that was in the box. I just used a scrap of it. I thought they came out pretty cool. I was attempting to cut the flower and instead it did this. I liked it, so I didn’t run it through the Big Shot again. I also used the Stitched Framelits to make the ovals around the title. I use these A LOT! I absolutely love them! You can also see that I used Rich Razzelberry ink to stamp a bunch of leaves all over the back ground to give it some extra pizzazz and add to the falling leaves…
MVIMG_20181003_145948
After making the scrapbook page, I thought I should make a card using as much from the kit as I could. I needed to add cardstock for the base of the cards, yet, the rest is from the kit itself. These 2 cards came together pretty quick!
This first one, I used Gorgeous Grape cardstock and cut 1 inch off the bottom of the top part of the card. Then I used the spider web cellophane bag and cut it open to make a cover for the top of the card. I used the small and large spider on the same stamp block to stamp the bottom border. Then used the silver pumpkin to adhere behind the jack-o-lantern. I stamped the sentiment and tied some of the bakers twine around the fold to disguise it.

The only thing I don’t like about this card is that you can see the glue dots that I used to stick the bag to the front. Not sure what else I could have done.
The next card I like better…
1538595979986
I used a piece of Granny Apple Green card stock and Whisper White cardstock. I used the Gorgeous Grape ink for the stamping after putting almost all the stamps onto 1 block to make a word and picture collage. I saw somebody on a facebook site do something similar for a scrapbook page background and was reminded that I had once done that for Christmas cards from Paper Pumpkin a few years ago. I love using that idea when you have lots of little stamps!
I used the same block of stamps to stamp the background with Versa Mark ink. Then I added the silver circle behind the ghosts eyes to give it that eerie look. I cut off part of the tag and edged it with the Gorgeous Grape like I did the whole card and the worded rectangle. Gotta love distressing! I tied some of the black and silver bakers twine around the fold and tied a bow. I used dimensionals for the back of the tag and the ghost. Simple and quick card.
There you have it. 3 fairly quick and easy alternates to a very fun paper Pumpkin kit. Did you have to go Halloween? No, you did not. Could you if you wanted to? Naturally! Paper Pumpkin is for anyone and any level of crafting that wants to get products you can’t buy anywhere else.

Aloha R&R

Hello, All!

We made an impromptu camping trip to Yellowstone over the weekend and had a blast! It did require some prep time, hence the lack of posts again. School starts tomorrow, so I will have more time for almost a week before I start substituting again. I am already booked 3 days next week. My plan is that any days that I am not subbing, I will be working on Stampin’ Up! as well as scrapbooking and therefore, blogging!

Right now I am not feeling so great, but I really wanted to get this blog post in for this challenge because I have worked on it 3 times! I sat down and worked on it 2 other times and just didn’t get inspired or was just not happy with what was coming together on this page. So this will be quick and straight to the point because earlier, when I sat down to work on this page, it just flowed right out of me and I was feeling pretty confident and happy with the results! 3’s a charm, right?!

This is one of the pages from my Dad’s Life Album. Not everything in it is SU!, but that is ok. I have tons of scrapbooking stuff that I have had long before I even heard about SU!.

The challenge is August Blend-A-Sketch Challenge for Scrap Our Stash. I think this is the first time I have entered something with them since I haven’t really scrapbooked much since leaving Tucson in 2015.

Here is the sketch:

And here is my scrapbook page:

1535502804687

So, I needed to blend these 2 sketches together and use arrows.

I used the diagonal from the left sketch and did some tearing for my left corner and then placed the title on top of the pictures.

I used the stacking of the photos and the journaling box on the side as well as the rest of my title from the sketch on the right.

My arrows go across the top and along the right side of the page.

What do you think? I am pleased with how it turned out!

Enjoy the rest of your evening! I am headed upstairs to lay down and get rid of this nausea. Until next time…

Happy crafting!

Blessings, June

SU! Christmas Pines and Beyond

Hello! Happy Middle of the Week day!

Christmas Pines stamp set and framelits isn’t just for Christmas! It’s for any outdoorsy scrapbook pages as well as cards! I thought this was so perfect! We were out among the trees and I needed embellishments! Pine needles and pine cones…PERFECT!

I used the stamps for one page and and then used the framelits for 3D embellishments! Still kept it simple, but the added greenery really helped make the pages pop! As I look at them now…I could have had more pop with more layers of paper! I was towards the end of the album and ready to have it done, I think. The stamping and framelits did help, though! I have not put this set away with the Christmas sets because there is so much I can do with it!

The red hearts are from the Sweetheart punch by Stampin’ Up! Love my sister and brother-in-law and so it was perfect for their picture with the Grand Teton in the background. The round punches are also from Stampin’ Up! They are the 2 3/8 ” scalloped punch (replaced by thinlits) and the 2″ circle punch.

Are you tired of Yellowstone pictures, yet? I sure trust not. I have one more post to go with my sisters album and then I was going to start my own…maybe I will do some Christmas pages for a bit and then go back to Yellowstone. I did do 3 gift albums of Yellowstone pictures. I could kinda use a break myself.

Enjoy your day!

Blessings, June

Out of the Box! SU!

Hello and Happy Saturday!

Crafting weekend for you, too?! I’m scrappin’ all day today at a Scrap4Less crop and we’ll see what happens on Sunday! Hubby will be home, so it might be a movie day!

Here is another sketch challenge that I did over the holidays! This is another sketch from Stuck?! Sketches…a great challenge site! I love working with sketches! Most of the folks who entered this challenge and even the design team used stars. I chose white birch trees as my large back drop! Shh, not an SU! framelit. I was at a crop and a friend of mine showed it to me and it was so perfect for this page, that I used it! That elk was in the trees and it all blends nicely together! I put the Bald Eagle in a circle using the 2″ circle punch from Stampin’ Up!and then backed him up with a couple layers of papers. The tab punch is a retired item from SU!, but one of my favorites, so I use it often. I even have the stamp set that goes with it, which I used to embellish the paper.

Again, working on an 8×8 page to do a 12×12 sketch was a bit of a challenge, yet…it came out pretty good! Don’t you think? I even have a few trees leftover to use in my own album. Sweet!

Alrighty, off to scrappin’ my day away! Then I will have more to post! Cool beans!

Enjoy your day!

Blessings, June

I’m Back! SU! awaits!

Hello Everyone!

Happy New Year to you!! Ours started off pretty good and I am all rested and ready for action. We spent our holidays at home. There is lots of family on my husband’s side here, so we certainly were not alone!  I missed my family, though!

I spent many an evening scrapbooking my sister’s Yellowstone album to get it done. Not in time for Christmas, but it’s done and she was patient! I’ll be doing posts over the next week of pages that I created and never made it to the computer to post. I even did challenges, that have since closed, but I will still share my inspiration for the pages.

Here are a few of the pages that were not related to a challenge, so I kept them fairly consistent so that they would flow. I used the Triple Banner Punch A LOT!! It really worked with these pages. The fact that I could do the three different sizes of paper strips was a bonus! I’m a little burnt out on banners, but I’ll be starting my own Yellowstone album soon, so I am sure I will be using it again! Handiest punch ever!!

I used the Glamper Greetings (which is still available!), Under the Stars, and Happy Camper stamp sets throughout this album as well! They were perfect, of course. I used them on other pages and cards in previous posts.

I am pleased with the simplicity of the album and the flow of the pages! I trust she likes it! 8×8 is not a size I am used to working with, so it challenged me at times. Overall, I enjoyed working on it and am happy with the outcome.
