My hubby’s birthday was on Sunday the 12th and I made this card for him! As you saw at Christmas time, he has a lovely mustache…so I really couldn’t pass up on using my friend’s mustache embossing folder! Especially when I needed a pattern paper for this sketch challenge! It’s not a Stampin’ Up one, it’s from Darice, just too dang cute to pass up, though!
Here is the sketch for the challenge that I started with to make this card. It comes from a new challenge blog that I discovered…well, new to me, anyway, called Catch The Bug Challenge Blog.
I chose Dapper Denim as my card base, used the line stamp from Gorgeous Grunge in Dapper Denim ink for the back ground since my “patterned” paper was not overpowering. I used Whisper White to emboss the mustaches on and then used my Black dauber to color the mustaches. Tempting Turquoise is my base for both Whisper White pieces. Instead of ribbon, I chose the Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine and wrapped it around the mustache cardstock instead of the whole card. I also tore the edges versus using a scalloped edge. It seemed more masculine to me. Don’t you agree?
I punched the balloons in Cherry Cobbler and Tempting Turquoise and added the little white marks to help make the balloons look 3D. That was my friend’s idea and she was right! What a huge difference it made! I will have to remember that in the future!!
I edged the white cardstock with my Cherry Cobbler dauber and then hand drew the border in! I really like that border method! I have started using it more! It just finished off that piece perfectly, I think! I also hand drew the strings from the balloons. I need to work on that skill to make them more swirly or curly, I think. Although, it kinda looks like the wind is blowing the balloons to the left, so then the strings would not be so curled. The lines in the background kinda make me think of wind. Hmm…
The sentiment is from another Paper Pumpkin kit called Everything. It was a special, extra stamp set last year in the anniversary box. I find I use stamps from that little set quite often.
That’s about it for this card. He liked it and it suits him, so that is all that matters, right?!
Enjoy your day! Happy stampin’!

I am so ready for a scrappin’ weekend!! Looking to do more pages in my sister’s Yellowstone album. For now though, you will have to settle for a little more My Mind’s Eye layouts.
Again, I see I forgot to take the picture size off before taking the pictures…oops!
These are Circus papers from My Mind’s Eye. I think it was called Up, Up, and Away. They were definitely fun pages to work with! Bright colors and fun mustaches! i am partial to mustaches. You’ll know why if you saw one of my earlier post with a picture of Santa and my husband. Go check it out!
I don’t think I need to go through each page. The single pictures are the pages on their own so you can look at them closer to see what I did. The 2 page layouts are to show you what pages go together.
I will tell you that I used as much of the paper set that I could in various ways. I cut out “embellishments” from the papers and used as much of the scraps as banners and back grounds as I could. I am a huge believer in not wasting paper!! I pop dotted embellishments to give the pages more dimension and added layers as well. And, I used the stamp set that came with the set. There were no stickers this time, that is why I used the paper itself.
This paper set really challenged me on so many levels to get out of my comfortable little box and to give it a go to use as much of the actual paper as I could! I like how it all turned out! Almost wish I got to keep them!
Enjoy your crafting time!!
More page designs from My Mind’s Eye for Scrap4Less! And it looks like I forgot to take off the picture measurements before taking these photos. I don’t have the layouts anymore, so you’ll just have to forgive me!
Somehow, I did not write down the names of the paper sets for all these My Mind’s Eye papers. However, the next time I see her, I will be sure to ask for them so that I can add them here…then you can find them where ever you are!
This is actually just a 2 page layout and the smaller pictures are just each page on its own to see closer. These were photos for sending to her to post for classes, not for the blog. Later I figured I could put them on the blog as well. It is my creation, so why not share it.
Using all this very patterned paper was seriously pushing me out of my comfortable box! Although, this one looks like I used more, but I didn’t…I folded pieces of the paper over to show more patterns, but it’s not a ton of paper. Tricky and cool, right?! They 2 ‘yellow’ pages are the base and the torn pieces are on top with corners and edges folded. Then I used the striped paper to make places for pictures and added some stamped images that went with this paper set! Easy-peasy!
And that’s all for today, folks! Enjoy your crafting!
I was going through the pictures in my Media Library for this blog and discovered a bunch of pictures of projects that I had not shared yet. So, I figured, I should take the time to share them! I did put the effort in to them, didn’t I, so why not!?
This first set of pictures was of pages I designed for Scrap4Less, a store and crop group that meets every 2nd Friday of the month and the following Saturday. The lady in charge asked me to take papers and design pages. I have showcased one other set months ago and figured I would show you the rest!
The paper is My Mind’s Eye. I have no idea anymore of the name of it. (if I figure it out, I will add it) I know she still has these papers and would be happy to sell them if you came shopping! You can click on the Scrap4Less and it will take you to her site.
I really had fun with this very blingy paper, but be forewarned…I had glitter everywhere for a while. The larger picture was a layout where I used layers of squares. I cut a large square out of the main paper, then put another paper behind it. Then I cut 2 smaller squares out of the cut piece in graduated sizes. I pop dotted the middle square and put black on the smallest one to put a picture on. She wanted no pictures on the layouts, but this would be perfect for wedding or a formal night! I really like how it turned out! I added some of the stickers that came with the set of papers.
The next page, with the calendar look, was a fun one, too. I wanted to keep as many of the numbers uncovered as I could. and used a collage of pictures and stickers to give it the color blocking look. The ‘Love’ was a sticker and I put it on black figuring it could house a picture there sliding it under the word before sticking it down.
The page with the banner was fairly simple because the main embellishment was already on the page. So I created around it! I “hung” the banner with a piece of hemp string and then used the sticker banner pieces over it. Then a few pieces of scrap paper cut with banner ends and put sideways under the pictures with a sentiment was all it needed. The paper was glittery and didn’t need anything fancy with it.
I trust you like it! Happy crafting!
OK, OK, I know this isn’t Stampin’ Up! products. However, it is creative scrapbooking and I did create these pages for Scrap4Less, the crop and place that I do teach scrapbooking classes using Stampin’ Up! products. Each month I get papers that she has an abundance of, create pages for her (she only makes cards) and then she makes kits out of them! Soon, I will be teaching the classes with these kits as well! It’s scrapbooking and teaching, so I. AM. IN! And, isn’t the whole purpose of having this blog to share my scrapbooking (ok, cards, too) passion with you?! Yes, it is! So here they are…
I have never been really big on using lots of patterned paper, it frightened me really! I would use it as accents and such…then she gave me a half dozen patterned papers and said, “Here, what can you do with this?” YIKES! I was not so sure. I will admit that I went straight to Pinterest to see what others did with it! And then the creative juices started to flow…gotta love Pinterest!
Here is the 2-page layout I did using the Lost & Found papers she gave me from My Mind’s Eye. She has lots of paper from them. It’s good stuff!
These are great Boy/Men pages! I love the quotes! The big rectangles are obviously where you would put pictures. She didn’t ask me to use my own, yet I did suggest she put her pictures in there then, to help get people excited about the paper! Scrapbook pages look so much better with pictures on them!! Don’t you think?
If you like these papers, come shop at Scrap4Less on the 2nd Friday and Saturday of the month! Or even better, stay and scrapbook or any other craft, as well! Always love having folks to scrapbook with!! You can also sign up for classes of all kinds! I teach the scrapbooking ones and leave the card making, quilling, and iris folding to the other ladies. You can SIGN UP NOW! for any of the classes! I am usually there on Saturday’s only right now…and plan to be there on Fridays, as well, come August. When you come, let me know you saw this here! I love meeting people!!
